Verbalsubstantiver, ikke-verbalsubstantiver, tellelighet og bruk av ubestemt artikkel

I denne artikkelen lanseres fire forskningsspørsmål om verbalsubstantiver i norsk, mer spesifikt i bokmål: Er det et klart skille mellom mengdesubstantiver og tellelige substantiver i norsk? Hvis svaret er ja, vil ubestemt artikkel utelukkende opptre med objektsrefererende substantiver. Er dette skillet morfosyntaktisk eller semantisk/pragmatisk? Er grensen mellom verbalsubstantiver og ikke-verbalsubstantiver (prototypiske substantiver) diskret? Vil tilstedeværelsen av ubestemt artikkel fremtvinge en resultat-/objektsdenotasjon ved verbalsubstantiver med systematisk polysemi (dvs. blokkering), eller kan ubestemt artikkel forekomme med verbale substantiver med prosessbetydning? For å undersøke disse spørsmålene anvendes Norsk aviskorpus for bokmål. Det brukes kwic-konkordanser med manuelle analyser av verbalsubstantivene.
