Focus and Scope

Bergen Language and Linguistic Studies welcomes proposals for language related publications with a connection to Bergen, e.g. within the following subject areas:

Applied linguistics
Computational linguistics
Corpus linguistics
Discourse analysis
Historical linguistics
Interpretation studies
Language teaching and learning
Lexicography
Linguistic theory
Phonetics and phonology
Pragmatics
Psycholinguistics and cognitive science
Semantics

Translation studies

The publication should be linked somehow to one of the following institutions in Bergen: University of Bergen (UiB), Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH), or Western Norway University of Applied Sciences.

How to submit a proposal for an edited issue

Proposals for edited issues should be sent by email to the general editors. Proposals should include an overall abstract of the issue, detailing its theme, purpose and scope, a list of proposed contributors (bouth issue editors and authors), and a brief description of each of the proposed papers and how they speak tho the broader theme of the edited issue.

If the proposal is accepted, the issue editors will be informed by the general editors. The issue editors inform the authors about deadlines, manuscript preparation etc. They are also responsible for assigning reviewers to each paper (double-blind peer review), and for ensuring the scientific quality of the publication.

Peer Review Process

All publications in BeLLS are subject to double-blind peer review. This is organized by the issue editors.

Open Access Policy

Based on the principle that research should be free and accessible, all publications in BeLLS are immediately available from the website free of charge. Works are released under a Creative Commons license, which provides unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. BeLLS has no submission or publication fees.
